Bipartisan Senate Bill Aims to Reduce Ground Vehicle Incursions
U.S. lawmakers have introduced bipartisan legislation designed to curb the rising number of runway incursions by targeting airport ground vehicle operations. The Runway SAFE-T Act would establish a dedicated task force to overhaul driver training and allow airports to tap into existing federal infrastructure funds to purchase advanced situational awareness technologies. With over five hundred surface incidents recorded so far this year alone, tightening the standards for ground personnel operations is becoming a critical priority for keeping flight crews and passengers safe during complex taxi and clearance procedures.
